I’m preparing a Christmas performance of stories for children and have been digging into the archive of stories that I told at my children’s bedside when they were young.
They are now 11 and 13 years old, and a very, very long way from having Dad tell them a story at bedtime. But when they were small, I told them a new, intuitive story every evening. Over a four year period we shared a thousand stories together, and the best of them became part of Palace of Stories, my website of stories for children.
This month’s podcast features one of those stories, which I retold with music in the recording studio last week. Like most of those stories, it carries a spiritual message in allegorical form: that we are all divine, whether Kings or Kings’ Gardeners, and how love and wisdom reveals this about us. You can find the story below.
And if you have children aged 4 to 9, or know someone who does, then Palace of Stories could make a unique Christmas present for them (apologies while I sound like a brochure). You can buy all the 100+ stories on Palace of Stories for £25.
You can find the story here: The Gardener’s Golden Grass Clippings
